Chapter 2 · Basics

The Version Rule

  • Lesson
  • 5 min

Version identification gives a project team a shared starting record and makes it easier to consult the correct release information.

The situation

Before opening an existing project, a colleague asks which software and firmware values belong in the handover note.

Identify versions without guessing compatibility

A software version identifies the Loxone Config release in use; a firmware version identifies the software running on the Miniserver. They are two recorded values, not a compatibility verdict by themselves.

Open the approved project context and record the displayed Config version and the Miniserver firmware version next to the project name and date. If the team needs an update or compatibility decision, consult the current Loxone release documentation rather than deriving it from this lesson.

Loxone’s downloads archive recommends the latest configuration software and links its changelog. That supports checking the current documentation; it does not establish a universal numeric comparison rule for every project.

  1. Write which value identifies Config and which identifies Miniserver firmware.
  2. Draft a handover line containing both values and the date.
  3. Name the official source to consult before making an update decision.
Takeaway

Record Config and Miniserver versions accurately; use current release documentation for compatibility or update decisions.
